Last week the Supreme Court decided to take on a case that could let employers deny birth control coverage to their employees–a case brought by craft retailer Hobby Lobby. If the Court sides with Hobby Lobby, employers will get to make health care choices for their workers. Would YOU want your boss deciding whether you have access to affordable birth control?
We need to make clear to Hobby Lobby, the Supreme Court and politicians everywhere: no company has a right to interfere in women’s personal medical decisions. The precedent this would set is dangerous.
This isn’t just about pregnancy–it’s about women’s health. 99% of women will use birth control at some point in their lives, 58% of them for a reason other than pregnancy.
1 What’s more; Americans are the side of women’s health. 62% think publicly held companies should be required to abide by the Affordable Care Act’s mandate that insurance companies cover no-cost birth control.
